xawtv problem persists
Running (trying to) xawtv 3.95 under Slackware 12.0.
1) found framebuffer address in /var/log/Xorg.0.log
and used it to run v4l-conf -a 0xD0000000. This is OK
2) Modified /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Commented out: Load "dri"
added: Load "dga"
and Load "v4l" This is OK
3) Verified existence of bttv.ko This is OK
4) Modules loaded were: bttv, v4l1_compat, vrl2_common, videodev, tveeprom, btcx_risk, compat_ioctl32, ir_common, video_buf, tvaudio, tuner, bt878, sn9c102, and i2c_viapro.
The BTTV document says it expects i2c support, i2c-algo-bit, and btaudio.
When I modprobe these they do not exist.
IS THIS CORRECT FOR Slack 12.0?
5)ls -l /dev/video* validates OK
6) Permissions were set OK
7) Card and tuner numbers are recognized OK
8) Did NOT add the modules.conf data suggested by BTTV to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
When I run xawtv I get:
This is xawtv-/opt/Xawtv, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.21.5-smp)
Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "lightgray"
switching visual (0x32)
xinerama 0: 640x480+0+0
WARNING: Your X-Server has no DGA support.
Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-ledfixed-medium-r-*--39-*-*-*-c-*-*-*" to type FontStruct
I get a frozen (frame) picture from a station sometimes when I start up xawtv and it is in static 8 bit. When I try another station, it goes black.
If I press c the channel guide comes up (sometimes with pictures from a scan, I guess, mostly nothing but the Station call sign.
If I press o then select G or J the selected station begins to activate and I get tv with no sound.
A-Is i2c_viapro a replacement for i2c support and i2c-algo-bit and if not where can I get these modules?
B-is tvaudio a replacement for btaudio?
C-Is there a way to get the tv to work and in color and without having to do a screen capture to start it?
