I tried to run elivecd in my P III 500 MHz 256 MB RAM i-810 mother board. I can go upto the selection of E16 or E17 screen but the X window does not open. I tried to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and ran it again but I get the following error message:
" EE: GARTInit : Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such device)
EE: I810(0): AGP GART support is not available. Make sure your kernel has agpgart support
The kernel wasn't compiled with or didn't load the module that provides AGP support (kernel_module_dir/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o). In short: ask maintainer to fix things.
(I had exactly the same problem with elive - no 'agp' whatever. After showing great promise the live cd finished its act with a command line interface - so much for my wish to experience enlightenment, just once in my benighted existence.)
That would be the developer(s) responsible for keeping the elivecd up-to-date, etc. Try asking here
I see varaahan has also posted his question there, you might be interested in reading the (short) discussion here
I hope that helps.
