X CDROAST Question on ISO image

How in the "sam heck" can I get a proper iso image burned to a CD via XCDroast? I got the sofwtare loaded and I can make a CD from data on my hard drive and from the other CDROM device no problem, but it will not properly burn an ISO image to a disc?

Example:

I tried to create a bootbal disc with IPCop software. I click on the MAKE IMAGE button and completed the data required.

1. I setup the directory as required.
2. I located and "browsed" the directory of the actuall ISO image, and selected "NO Emulation" for my bootable type.
3. Then I went to the last TAB to start the process. the option to start are write to HD and Write on the fly. When I did the "write on the fly" I got an image of my entire directory selected in the first tab, not the ISO image as a CD as requested.
4. I haven't tried the Hard drive version yet.

Shouldn't there be a clearer means of burning a proper ISO image? Something is not making sense here. Or am I totally not getting it?

Any help would be great.

I know what your going through as on Xcdroast it is a little confusing with all the different options. I just use the commandline stuff (mkisofs, growisofs).
