wsz skins under xmms 1.2.7

i've recently changed my distro to debian. well to tell the truth it is awesome! but there is one thing that bothers me. namely i cannot change my skin in xmms. as far as i know it does supports *.wsz WinAMP skins. i user xmms 1.2.7. under redhat i've used the same version and it supported those skins. what's wrong?

Have you put the skins in your Skins directory.
Code:
>$ ll .xmms/Skins/
AbsoluteE ColderXMMS Helix-Sawfish nuance-green UltrafinaSEM
bmXmms FB2.1 maXMMS sword XMMSUltraStep
Chaos-XMMS Fire nuance Ultrafina-pw
Code:
>$ ll .xmms/Skins/*
.xmms/Skins/AbsoluteE:

I thought .wsz files were simple .zip files renamed? Winamp Skin Zip?

They are zips.
You can either rename the extension to zip, or extract the contents to your skins directory.

you shouldn't have to extract *.wsz or even rename the extensions. someone earlier told you where to put the archive if you want the skin accessible only to you. if you want to make that skin accessible to everyone, just create a Skins directory (if it doesn't already exist) in /usr/share/xmms and move the skin to that Skins directory. you may have to chmod the Skins folder to make everything in there have read/exec permissions.

chmod -R 755 /usr/share/xmms/Skins

that should about do it. you may also have to close out xmms and start it again. but after that your skin browser in xmms preferences should have that skin listed.

well yes, i've put all skins in ~/.xmms/Skins directory, and given them chmod a+rwx, but still xmms won't change its skin.

are you sure, it's a winamp 2 skin? not really sure why it's not changing for you. have you just tried to move all the skins in /usr/share/xmms/Skins and see if that works?
