Hello all.
How can I view and access the windows PCs over the network in Red Hat Linux. I tried using Linneighbourhood but couldn't find it confortable becoz firstly it always asked for root login and secondly it permanently creates the directories for all the shares over the network that were accessed.
Is there any way in RedHat Linux itself with which I can use the sharings on the PCs over the network.
Thanks in advance.
LinNeighborhood typicallly will create the mount points under the users home directory with something like '~/mnt/<netbios_name>/<share_name>' when you mount a share. When unmounting it leaves that naming schema in place by default, but you can tell it to delete it for you when you unmount the share. You shouldn't have to delete anything manually.
Thanks for suggesting konquorer. I am able to connect to the windows machines. But what should be the username that has to be given to open the shared folders.
Also, how can i see the list of hosts on the lan. I tried lan:/ and rlan:/
while lan:/ says that it could not connect to host localhost, rlan:/ says /tmp/resLisa-username
