Question Why does DHCP work great in Knoppix but not Slackware?

It seems the DHCP in Knoppix Ubuntu or FedoraCore alway gets the computer online via my home network on any PC. Why does DHCP not work as well with Slackware?

I really want the stability of slackware
but running netconfig over and over is breaking my heart.

During the setup of slackware 10+ enter a domain name (I usually use localdomain) then dhcp is auto setup. Found this by accident and it has never failed me, everytime i have gone to setup my dhcp on a slackware installation i entered my hostname then domain name then if you need to you can enter any extras from there dhcp will run automatically
