where to install BWidget (tcl)

I'm trying to get Tkabber to work, but I'm confused by this tcl stuff..

Code:
Error in startup script: can't find package BWidget
    while executing
"package require BWidget"
    (file "/opt/tkabber/share/tkabber/tkabber.tcl" line 13)
Where should I install the BWidget package? All I see is more .tcl files

thanks in advice.

If your installing from source, most likely when you install the package, it will install to its default location if none specified. Have you installed this package already?

Yes, I've downloaded the "source" package from the tkabber home page. It contained a lot of tcl files, and a simple Makefile that just copied the files (I've set it to /opt/tkabber/ in my case)

Now I've downloaded the BWidget package, and it has a lot of tcl files again, and an installation guide that confuses me the most. Since I don't know anything about TCL, and I don't just want to copy all those files across my disk several times. (things like the tcl library path are a little meaningless to me)

Isn't there any standard way for TCL libraries... to install them somewhere, or perhaps, add some location to a search-path? I have some feeling I don't want to install the package inside the /opt/tkabber/share/tkabber directory, so it "just works"... (btw, a file will be overwritten if I do)

Stumbled across this while looking for an answer to the same question. Like an unfortunate number of library authors, the BWidgets people have assumed that the only people who need to use their libraries are planning to *code* with them. For those of us who've never used TCL, the installation instructions mean nothing.

From the a document called tuto-install-tkabber on the tkabber.jabber.ru website (irritating spam catcher won't let me post a URL), the answer is:

Install the BWidgets directory into the "lib" directory returned by:
whereis tcl

It should look something like: /usr/lib/tcl8.4
