The
epson-printer-utility is one of those rare items that doesn't HAVE a config file. It re-runs its set-up routine in /tmp every time it's executed.....and pulls all necessary/required information from stuff already setup in other locations.
I've been running Epsons since time out of mind, so you
could say I have a bit of experience with them.
You can search for a config file until you're blue in the face, but you won't find it. Because it doesn't exist....and never has. If you think that sounds a daft way of doing things, blame the Japanese company Avasys (who went out of business a few years ago). They wrote all Epson's software for them.....and since Epson "inherited" everything upon their bankruptcy, they haven't really re-written much of it. Just updated bits'n'pieces where necessary. One of the few items that
is updated as & when required is the
lsb release number compatibility.
Unlike many printer manufacturers, who write different drivers for every new model they release, over the course of Epson's 30+ year history they've used perhaps a dozen or so modular, "generic" drivers that work with near enough everything they've ever released. They might be considered "agricultural" by some, but they're near as dammit bulletproof, are as reliable as the day is long and run pretty much for ever.
My
Stylus SX218 - one of the fore-runners of the WorkForce business-class series - is approaching its 13th birthday, and is
still going strong.
