whats the "chkdsk /f" equivlent on linux ?


i need to run a "chkdsk /f" on an external maxtor drive (40 gig), normally when i do this, i go thru the trouble of booting under win2k and tagging it to have a chkdsk done on yet another reboot....

there must be a better way....

If you have ReisferFS or ext3 you won't need this but if you have ext2 fsck is ran on bootup so you normall don't need to. But if you want you can man fsck...

Actually I'm not sure of your question anymore, but man fsck anyway...
