The benefits in terms of reduced time wasted on viruses and crashes alone would be great.
Open Office is fine for their general IT needs, however we would need a couple of other key tools as well.
Autograph 3 would be great.
Geometer's Sketchpad would be useful.
NetOp would be essential. For those of you who have not heard of this it is a system that lets me see and control all the PCs in the classroom from my own laptop.
Cheers
Tim.
In regards to NetOp, check out these links if you haven't already:
It appears that NetOp may already be available for GNU/Linux systems in some form. Personally, with some good security measures and ssh/vnc, I really don't see the need for such software, but it looks like they ported it anyhow.
I'm not sure what all the Geometer's Sketchpad can do, but Kig might help you out (if you haven't heard of it before). It's an interactive geometry program that's part of KDE's Edutainment suite. Here's some links:
I've never personally used Autograph 3, but from the vendor's website it looks pretty nifty. However, you might find a combination of KmPlot and Blender adequate:
I've just requested a trial of NetOp and their download page for temp licenses include:
Guest and Host modules:
Windows 2003, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, 95
Windows CE
Linux RedHat 8/9
Linux RedHat 7.x, Mandrake 10, SuSE 8.x/9.0
Solaris
OS/2
DOS
Used Paperport for quite a while. I know about xsane, gimp, and kooka, but maybe don't know how to
use them to fullest. Seems like there is a long series of "steps" to scan, then file the scan.
Maybe someone can show me where I'm going wrong!
I like the "explorer" type folder tree in PaperPort where you can drag 'n drop scans in Paperport

What I would like is a HAL9000 software ported on my AMD Duron 650Mhz and running, well at least under 2.6.7 kernel, however I don't see why it couldn't be ported under earlier versions .
Besides that, hmmm, maybe tweaked Omega ATi Radeon drivers. Or better, port the bloody ATi Radeon itself!!!
Is Origin, the numerical data analysis tool available for Linux?
And what's wrong with virtua girl? It is an AI program. Although a very simple one. Don't be so puritanistic!
(Hey, I got an idea for a new forum = Sex questions for linux user! - something that MS support will never offer you)
To all Linux users I wish many happy non-solitary nights (and days) !!! ))))

I second that; I didn't like seeing someone label it as "inappropriate for this forum" or something similar. Without adult entertainment driving a lot of new technology, this internet thing (and VCRs, and lotsa other things) wouldn't be what they are today.
