What is symbol versioning


I am trying to install a Rocket 100 controller card on a system running Red Hat 9. In the instructions it states that I need to recompile[B]the kernel with symbol versioning configured[B] my question is what is symbol versioning and how do I turn it on? thanks

`Set version information at all module symbols'

I think that it's this option. You will find it under `Loadable module support'.
