Thumbs down VNC server cannot find fonts which do exist [SL 6.1, 64bit]

Im running some linux software which is using a VNC, it fails to start. In the log files related to that software i see:
31/01/12 13:50:02 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5980
Font directory '/usr/share/X11/fonts/' not found - ignoring

however, i did install all xorg-x11 related fonts, and i did check, they really exist in /usr/share/X11/fonts folder

so how come it cant find it if it is there?

i tried giving to a user full access to that fonts folder, it didnt help either.

what other issues could be here?

p.s. on 32bit machines with absolutely similar software, OS and everything else, it works just fine.
thank you.

VNC

Sometimes software will work one place and not another, you indicated a log that informed you of the font issue.

Perhaps the program will not work as before on a 64bit machine, did you check that out? Is it good to go?
By that I mean does the program show up, (it must be a GUI) or did it just run and give up when the fonts weren't and kill itself?

well, actually with clean install on another 32bit machine again it did work.

interesting fact is, that message in log regarding fonts still appeared! but it worked.. thanks anyway.
