Vmware guest

I have Vmware 4.5 installed on my Gentoo workstation. I wanted to try to install Suns Java Workstation as a vmware session and am running into issues.

When I try to start the install, I immediately run into a problem. The display is all screwy, kind of like when you start an os with a resolution higher than the monitor's capible of displaying. I don't have this problem with Windows sessions (have XP loaded as well). I also have vmware 4.5 loaded on my work laptop running Windows XP and run into the same difficulties so I'm not sure if it's a problem with vmware or not. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Any help is appreciated.

I've had this issue when running an unsupported kernel with an older vmware version. Make sure you have the latest vmware (4.5.2?) and reinstall vmware. The latest version works on 2.6.10.
