vlc plays videos only in left side of window

Hi,

I'm using vlc 0.9.9a on debian. Whenever I play a video it shows up in the window only in the left quarter of the display. the height is right but the width is 1/4 what it should be. The title of the video shows up correctly at the bottom of the screen. I'm using the x11 video driver, but it seems to happen regardless of what driver I use.

Is there a setting for the width of the video (not the window that the video appears in but the video itself) or do I have the wrong codecs installed or something? Has anyone else had this problem? The videos that I'm using for testing work on mplayer and gstreamer.

Thanks.

i have never faced such a problem...try with a file with another extension...see if it works.....or uninstall and install vlc again...

I've tried avi files and mov files and it happens with both. I've reinstalled vlc a number of times, and I had the same problem with version 0.9.8a from testing. That's why I'm using the one from sid. I think maybe since it happened in testing and also unstable then it's not a issue of the version that I'm using, but instead something else.

I should amend my last statement. Now that I think about it, 0.9.8a didn't run right for me. I'll have to check out the vlc site and see if I can get a more recent version in .deb form.
