Vesafb-tng and video settings

Hope this is the best forum for this question...

I've just finished putting a new Gentoo system together from Stage 1 (that was fun! :) and have a question about using a framebuffer console.

When I configured the kernel (manually, not using genkernel), one of the device drivers I enabled was vesafb-tng. I noticed in there is a pre-set config string of "640x480@60", but did not change it. Later in my grub.conf file, I added the kernel option "video=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap,1024x768-32@75".

My problem is that the kernel seems to be using the 640x480 string in menuconfig and not paying attention to my video kernel option. How can I change this? Do I need to recompile the kernel using a blank config string for vesafb-tng?

Thanks!

Hmm, didn't seem to make a difference. Still looks like it's about 800x600.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.
