using usb pen drive as multi-boot device
Hello All,
I currently have no problems in dual booting Windows and PcLinuxos on my current Pata 80gb hdd. However, I have had great problems in the past when trying to put more than one distro and Windows on the drive.
I would like more than one distro on one disk. I'll shortly be installing a Sata 400gb hdd. It's occurred to me that it might be possible to set up a usb pen drive to act as a multi-booter. If I partitioned the new hdd into, say, five, named them hda1, hda2, etc, could I just boot a nominated partition from the external usb device? This might avoid Grub and Lilo and MBR problems.
I take it, by the way, that usb pen drives, usb memory sticks, and usb flash drives are one and the same thing. If they aren't, which should I get if my idea is workable?
Thanks in advance.
