Using Postfix with Ldap
Hi,
after succesfully configured ldap (Fedora DS) now I would install Postfix and use it with ldap....the problem is that at this point I'm a litte bit confuse about Documentation....I have a domain (example.com) and all my mail accounts will use that domain to send mail through the internet...at this point I'm not sure that I have to use virtual_map.
So...for a good configuration about Postfix with ldap....what values I have to use?....at this moment I'm not interesting about smtp_auth..may be in the future...
Thanks in advance
Alex

okay well one option would be to use the ldap client on the unix machine to authenticate against ldap
http://www.yourhowto.org/content/view/35/9/
then use ldap aliases with postfix
http://www.yourhowto.org/content/view/18/9/
it's accually writtern for openldap but i'm sure you can use it for Fedora Directory Server.

thanks...I have seen your howto....ten minutes ago :-)...ok, I already can authenticate linux client against ldap....and this, with ssl....I populate my Fedora DS with ldapimport tool....that import groups passwd and shadow file....I have two question:
1) Is it important to import aliases file in Ldap?...ldapimport can't.....if yes, in which way do I import this file??
2) I saw in your howtos (that in you link and other howto about ldap+postfix+Dovecot+squirremail) some difference about ldap entry in postfix...for example ldapalias_query_filter
In my case I have only one domain and my user will send mail whith that...what have I to use ??
Thanks in advance
Alex

as far as i aware you can not import the postfix alias file into a ldap server, i'm guessing thats what you mean by alaises file. I think you'd use tbe same filter, that is just looking for the username to match to the alias and in my case the attribute that openldap users to store it's usernames in is 'uid'
