MSN Messenger is no longer supported through GAIM or other IM programs. They changed their network, so you will have to download MSN messenger and run it under wine (if it works under wine). Sorry dude, your out of luck

wait up man...whoever said that MSN messenger is not supported by gaim?
you can either get aMSN which is a clon of the MSN messenger from http://sourceforge.net or since you are using a rpm based distro...you can look here....http://manocha.dnsalias.org/gaim.html

OK, its a little more complicated to get GAIM to have MSN support now. Here's how I did it:

build and install:
libgcrypt
libtasn1
gnutls

then rebuild and reinstall GAIM.

The version of Gaim that comes with Red Hat 9 is old. Upgrade to the latest copy.

Make sure your GNUTLS is installed to the normal place, that way gaim will pick it up in the directory it normal looks.. make sure to run ldconfig after installing gnutls

gaim

the gnutls is installed in the normal place, i think because the problem of ssl protocol was solved,
I think is other thing that causes gaim to close when i sign in the msn, the status bar of sign in the msn grows, but in the end, the gaim closes.

gaim

i think the only client that can use msn is trillian for windows.
i think that microsoft blocked other clients as gaim to add the list of contacts
