Unhappy Urgent! Hellllllp!

i have a old version of Gaim but i downloaded the most recent package, so i can be able to log on to msn, since the old one can't, gives me sign in error-protocol not supported!
now while I was trying to compile it, it gives me this:

[root@localhost gaim-0.71]# ./configure

checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for sed... /bin/sed
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.

I think it has to do with installing some compiler? but i don't know which one? And HOW?

Can anyone please help here!!!!

This is regards to Redhat 8.0

Which distro? Is there an RPM version? If not, you need to open your package installer and install the development environment.

Redhat and Mandrake

Suse 8.2

Why is this urgent?

GCC should be on your distro CD. (And it would help if you take the time to fill in your distro information in your profile.)
