sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt-get autoclean

dpkg-deb --control

sudo apt-get remove --purge apt_0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.12_i386.deb

sudo apt-get -f install

sudo dpkg --configure -a

sudo apt-get autoremove -f apt_0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.12_i386.deb

- ? installArchives() failed: Preconfiguring packages

- ? dpkg: warning: files list file for package

- ? (Reading database ... 162841 files and directories currently installed.)

- ? Preparing to replace apt 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.11 (using .../apt_0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.12_i386.deb)

- ? dpkg-maintscript-helper: error: environment variable DPKG_MAINTSCRIPT_NAME is required

- ? dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/apt_0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.12_i386.deb (--unpack):

- ? subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

- ? No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already

- ? dpkg-maintscript-helper: error: environment variable DPKG_MAINTSCRIPT_NAME is required

- ? dpkg: error while cleaning up:

so i`ll try apt 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.11
