Unable to upgrade to ubuntu 7.10, update manager fails to update....

I have tried to upgrade my ubuntu to 7.10, the following message occurs when using the update manager:

A problem occurred during the update. This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry.

Failed to fetch http://pkg-gnome.alioth.debian.org/d...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://pkg-gnome.alioth.debian.org/d...in/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

The same error appears a number of times. Using a CD copy of 7.10 i tried the following in a terminal:

gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"

nothing happens, still a newbie, am i missing something obvious?

Well, it appears to be trying to download packages from a debian server. Can you post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file?
