Ubuntu 10.10 works live, but not able to boot installed OS.
Hello, I've bought Linux User that had a Live disc of Ubuntu 10.10. Put it in the Computer, booted up live, looks good, hardware comparability (apart from sound, which never worked for me) looks good.
However, after installing the OS to my computer, I am unable to boot up the distro. The boot loader looks like a black screen with a flashing cursor. IO is unresponsive. Unable to do anything but turn it off and on again.
This Ubuntu is a beta version of the next Ubuntu release, probably an early one with all the problems unsolved . If you are interested in beta testing, you can probably download a later beta to play with from Ubuntu.
For better user results, download and try Ubuntu 10.04, the current release.

I am sort of guessing, but If you got to a blinking horizontal cursor on the upper left of the screen, I thing that no graphics module or driver is loading. You could test this by seeing if you can boot into console mode, that is runlevel 3.
My mention of playing with a later beta is based on the fact that this beta on your hardware may have a fatal bug. Either try a later beta and if it boots, someone else has solved a problem, or if it doesn't, work on the bug from there.
