trouble installing browsers

I have been trying to run Firefox on my machine running FC3, but everytime I get the error

/usr/local/firefox/firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This happened even while running Opera. As far as I remember, the shared lib file should do the job. So I tried linking to so.5, but it still didn work out. What should I be doing? Please advise.

Try reinstalling firefox.

Use Add/Remove programs in the system menu. It should be under the Internet\Web Browser category.

You can try installing libstdc5. I don't know the exact package name for FC, but most distros have both 5 and 6 for compatibility reasons. These two are not compatible AFAIK.
