TOR stopped working with ubuntu 10.04

Hi

Just upgraded Ubuntu to latest release, all seems ok except for TOR

This just will not work I had no problems prior to the upgrade The error message is

"Test failed local proxy is unreachable or not refusing connection"

Then it asks is POLIPO is running, er what or how can I check this?

Any help would be gratfully recieved.

p.s. latest version of TOR and Privoxy are both installed.

You must be using some sort of front-end you forgot to mention as TOR itself has no idea which conduit is used. If you configured Privoxy (including the "forward-socks4a / localhost:9050 ." line) correctly then accessing an URI like http://www.showmyip.com/torstatus/ should show if your connection runs through TOR. If it still doesn't then check the Privoxy and TOR logs (might need to increase verbosity in both before testing).

I will check this thank you. I use the Tor button with firefox. Strange though, I have just installed foxyproxy with tor and it works fine but with out the extra security that privoxy offers.
