Splitting divx to dvd job into chunks

Hi there,

I have finally found a great way to convert divx files to dvd. I prefer transcode to make my mp3 and video files. This typically takes 6/7 hours on my athlon xp 1900+.I am hoping to get hold of two more old p4 machines from friend. I was wondering if anyone has any experience and advice on how to break up an avi file into small chunks which i can then run on the other computers. Then I will need to put these chunks together and mplex it all together (which only takes 5/10 mins and so doent need to be split to different machines). If anyone knows how I can do this (or at least get me started) as I am not very experienced in A/V.

Thanks in advance
