I tried compiling xmms-1.2.10 from source and it told me I needed to install glib-1.2.2. So I compiled glib-1.2.2.tar.gz without any errors. So I go to compile xmms-1.2.10.tar.gz and it gave me the same glib error. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!
where did you install glib? for the older gnome libs (gtk glib gnome-libs etc..) the only thing the configure script looks for is the corresponding -config script which is installed in the prefix's bin folder. for example, if you installed it to say /opt/glib-1.2, /opt/glib-1.2/bin needs to be in your PATH for configure to find the glib-config script (which will tell the compiler what it needs to know to complile against and links against that library).
Did you actually run make install after running make?
In any case, I would recommend you use beep-media-player http://beepmp.sf.net instead of xmms. It's virtually the same but uses the newer gtk+2.0 libraries that will probably already be on your system, instead of the older (and virtually obsolote) gtk+1.2.
