SoundConverter and m4a files

I read that SoundConverter can take an m4a file as input and output a mp3 file. I installed SoundCoverter on a friends computer that I just put Ubuntu 7.04 on. She has a large collection of m4a files that we are trying to burn to CD and we cannot seem to find anything that will burn them. I tried to convert one from m4a to mp3 with SoundCoverter but it will not accept a m4a as input. Is there a plugin or setting that I need install/change? Or better yet, is there an app that will burn an m4a? AmaroK seems to play them fine (to bad it does not burn...)

Thanks,
Todd

Hi,

there is a plugin script for amarok called 'transkode' which can encode pretty much every sound format in all others using the appropiate tools (oggenc for .ogg, lame for .mp3 and so on). It also supports profiles for all formats, so is highly customizable.
I use it all the time and it works perfectly, you can download it from within amarok (extras -> script management). Also amarok can burn through k3b (k3b will convert the sound files to .wav before burning, but haven't tried with m4a files).
