Sound in Enna is almost inaudible

I installed Enna, and discovered that I have to crank system volume up to maximum to hear any sounds from it. How do I raise the volume?

How do you think we can begin to help you when you do not tell us:

- What linux distro you are running, on what platform (laptop, desktop, phone, ARM, arduino..... ?)

- What desktop you are running ( gnome, KDE 3.x or 4.x, the list goes on and on ... )

Sorry. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit on a desktop with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 gb RAM, nVidia GeForce 9500gt graphics card with 512 mb VRAM, total 1.3 TB hard drive capacity. My motherboard is an Asus P5KPL-CM with on board sound. I am running GNOME, with no customizations. Sound is at normal volume in all other applications.

Thank you.

I just installed enna on a similar system to yours (Ubuntu 10.04) and it seems to work fine.

One thing to try is to run alsamixer in a terminal window, and try playing with the levels.
Another is to go to Preferences Sound whilst running enna. Click the applications tab and see if the volume control for enna is lowered for some reason. In which case, increase it.

My audio device is "nVidia Corp High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)"

Agree with tredegar, you probably need to adjust alsamixer. One of my systems (laptop) requires the 'front' setting to be the primary setting, while alsa tends to set it at zero...which means no volume, until I adjust it. Once you figure out the key setting, just alter alsa's config file to retain it.

Actually, what you need to adjust is PulseAudio mixer, not ALSA mixer. That being because Ubuntu 9.10+ has PulseAudio instead of ALSA.

Where is that? I can't find it.

alsamixer is still there and works as expected, so now I am puzzled.

I found that the volume for mplayer was lowered, increased it, worked like a charm! Thanks!
