Solaris 8 vs Redhat

My boss gave me a Sunblade 100 workstation with Solaris 8.0. Being faily new to Linux I started to poke around. Seems some of the commands are different. I am wondering if it worth it to invest the time into learning this if I have no real use for it at this point. I would like to setup a Linux File Server just for fun, but this machine doesn't have much hard drive space.

neat. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it a ultrasparc 64 bit processor?
I'd keep solaris on it myself, just for the learning experience

You can still setup Solaris as a file server. Samba works quite well. In fact, most open source apps found in Linux should compile on Solaris without too much trouble. The benefits of Solaris really come through in a larger systems where the hardware redunancy is built into the system.
