Nagios is one of the best open source monitoring tool. Also if you want to go for another tool check out zabbix (http://www.zabbix.com/).

Putting in "nagios weblogic plugin", and "nagios jboss plugin" into Google pulls up answers:

http://exchange.nagios.org/directory...rvers/Weblogic
http://community.jboss.org/wiki/JBossNagiosPlugin

And you need to be sure you are clear on the difference between SNMP monitoring, and Nagios monitoring. For SNMP to be able to work with ANYTHING, you have to have the MIB for that service loaded on the server, and SNMPD running. Once you do, you can query things via SNMP..this is no different. Again, Google can find things, if you look:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/...snmpagent.html
http://community.jboss.org/wiki/JBos...apterGetValues

You can either use the Nagios plugins on the servers, or use whatever SNMP gives you. Personally, I'd use the Nagios plugins, since I could then add things to them, to check what *I* want, versus having to live with what's in the MIB.

Yes. Follow one of the links given to you. Again, you can either monitor it via script, or via SNMP MIB...that's your choice. I will again say that I would personally use the Nagios script, so I could make it do whatever I wished easier than I could SNMP, but the choice is yours.
