snapshot backup software service

I've had a really hard time getting backuppc to work as my backup solution. I'm wanting a good offsite backup solution for my desktop and I need some suggestions. What I'm looking for is a backup service that stores my files outside of my house and also stores snapshots so if I screw something up I can revert. I would also prefer not to install a closed source binary if I can help it, I wouldn't really mind an opensource binary as it is less likely to be doing god knows what in my system. Thanks.

Have you tried rsyncing to a cloud drive? From the man page

Push: rsync [OPTION...] SRC... [USER@]HOSTEST

If I just rsynced to a cloud drive I wouldn't have a snap shot backup system. On that note what would be a good affordable cloud backup service anyway? Thanks.

rsnapshot creates snapshot backups using rsync.
I don't know the answer to your question about cloud services.
