slippery superkaramba
Where can I find a copy of superkaramba.rpm to be installed on Mandrake 10.1? Um, yea...I have looked. Everything I can find a link to is either "404'd" or is a tar.gz package.

go to easyurpmi and follow the instructions to add sources for all 6 i.e. main, contrib, updates, jpackage, plf-free and plf-nonfree. Make sure that the mirrors you select are as close geographically, to you as possible (it often helps with download speeds) and then once complete, fire up the software manager (MCC/Configure my computer>software manager>rpmdrake+) and once it's finished "doing it's thing" you should find a mandrakised rpm for install.
regards
John

OK so far...
Your answer is fine as far as it goes, and was helpful. In fact, I did have to take the time to install the URPMI. However, that begs the original question...*where* can I get a downloadable copy of Superkaramba.rpm, the emphasis being on *rpm*.
All I have been able to find is the tar.gz version, which [of course] will not load because of dependency issues. (Specifically, the install fail complains of missing Python libraries.)
Would it even be worth mentioning that, yes, I did install 'libpython 2.3-2.3.4-6.2.101mdk' (and the corresponding 'python-base *blah-blah') before attempting a 'tar' install. But...why would I be foolish enough to think that such efforts would make any difference?

Well, just to check, I've just installed it (superkaramba, that is) from the software manager in my install.
Of course, it may just be that it doesn't appear on all of the mirrors that can be selected via easyurpmi. Which I might add, offers mirror resources for both "smart" packages and rpm's. I use rpms.
It appears (well when I looked at the "maximum information" listed in the software manager) that it's in the "contrib" section. Because of my location (UK) I use some UK based mirrors and others around the closest European countries, the source I'm using for contrib is ftp://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/Mand.../media/contrib
If you happen to be in the US, you may find that selecting US based mirrors, means that you might not see some packages due to US legal/copyright reasons (I understand that it's one of the reasons that there is both "free" and "non-free" sources available for the PLF), but it's (superkaramba) there, as an RPM!
One of the main reasons I personally, only use sources obtained via easyurpmi, is that the software manager will do a reasonably comprehensive "dependency check", so that if theres likely to be a dependency problem, it tells you and you shouldn't end up in "dependency hell"! Of course, some might say that thats the cowards way out, I prefer to believe that it's just common sense only to use packages designed/modified for your specifc distribution version - when at all possible.
Don't know, maybe that helps some ?
regards
John

stumbling along...
Well, it all worked, 'though I will never figure out why. If I had to reproduce whatever events got me up and running, I never could. But anyway, I somehow managed to get a working example of Superkaramba (I THINK it's 0.37**) and happened to then stumble across it in my Applications>Monitoring discipline, although how SK managed to find its' way there [again] I'll never know. Even had a repository of themes squirreled away in the proper [universal] folder. I've since added generously to that folder, the result being that all the stuff I'm supposed to have ready for work tomorrow morning hasn't even been cracked. And supper ain't started yet. Well, you know how that goes. Now I'll be up 'til three a.m.
Anyway, somehow...your advice got me where I wanted to be but, as I say, I'll never, ever figure out how.

He's the rpm packager for Mandriva that we've always worked with for the SuperKaramba rpms.
You should be able to find SK rpms on his site.
