Slackware 8.0 Installation

I'm a newbie to linux :P and recently tried to install Slackware 8.0 off the CD, I managed to get up to 'SOURCE' but then when I choose CD, it brings up the 'scanning for an IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM drive with a Slackware CD in it' and then hangs (not even the ALT+f1/f2/f3/f4 things work)

It's an ATAPI CD-ROM drive and I managed to get Slackware CD to boot off it without any trouble.

thanks

You can try to mount the cd by hand and then tell the install where to look for the CD.

mount /dev/hdc /cdrom

When your machine boots you should see which device your cd is on. After it has booted you can see the boot messages with the command 'dmesg'. Put that device in place of the hdc in the mount command.
