Slack/Knoppix error

I've been running slack9.1 for a while. Since booting from a knoppix cd yesterday all I get when I try to boot slack from my HD is boot error, can't read hda1.

I haven't changed hda1 at all and hda1 is my /boot partition. Any suggestions?

Is it a dual boot machine?

Have you determined the state of the partitions using knoppix?

What did you do, if anything, when in knoppix?
