My boss has put in many IP cameras around the building. I recently saw one near the bathroom. He is kinda creepy and I wouldn't put it past him to put one IN the bathroom. He was recently talking about power outlet cameras too. Is there a linux program I can use to detect cameras on the network and see what they see? Like vlc maybe? How would I do it?
Thanx
Even if, you need to known a password. If you does not like such a situation (I known it can be frustrated and stressful) why don't you just find another job?
It's hard to find a living wage job here and they know it. Also he has threatened to "blacklist" people before and he holds a couple of elected positions in the county so he can make good on that promise.
I thought that it would be just a matter of intercepting UDP packets.
It is likely to 'find' them... not necesarily 'see thru' them.
My question would be... What are YOU doing that you should be so paranoid about it... hum?
Anyway,
IF a restroom camrera IS found (eventually or otherwise), it is a MAJOR privacy violation and if this guy is as 'aware' as you say, I doubt he would be stupid enuf to pull something like that...
The employees have been putting post it notes over any outlet in the bathrooms and someone has taped a paper towel over the smoke detector in the locker room because it looks like one of the smoke detector cams in the catalogue that the supervisor has! It looks like "1984" has arrived.
I sustain my opinion, that if some worker see that his employer is "bad/evil" he should not support him and went away to employer who respect privacy. This is like with Windows and Linux. I think many people moved from Windows to Linux, because they believes that it is better and worth usage and supports.
If you want track down cameras, you can use some sniffer, like tcpdump. And after seeing something looking as video communication, you got the IP, then connect to that IP with VLC. But it can be impossible, it depends on technology level of that cameras. They can be encrypted and secured with password.
