Remote Desktop connecting though I am disabling it in CentOS6.4

Hi All,

I am used to connect my Linux machine by enabling "System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop" on CentOS 6.4 and vncviewer on Windows machine.

But since few days before I found that though I am disabling Remote Desktop on CentOS I am able to connect it with vncviewer from my Windows box.

Does any one face this issue ever.

I am attaching the screen shot of Remote Desktop panel.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Yogesh

Remote Desktop uses port 3389 by default while VNC uses ports 5800 and 5900 by default. Disabling the Remote Desktop connection does not disable VNC, as you have observed.

Thanks Allen,

When I enabled Remote Desktop its not showing port 3389 in use. #netstat -tulpn| grep 3389 gives me no result, but when I do #netstat -tulpn| grep 5900 it gave me below output.

Quote:
[root@support Desktop]# netstat -tulpn| grep 5900
tcp 0 0 :::5900 :::* LISTEN 8899/vino-server
Also When I do grep 3389 /etc/services, I got below output.

Quote:
[root@support Desktop]# grep 3389 /etc/services
ms-wbt-server 3389/tcp # MS WBT Server
ms-wbt-server 3389/udp # MS WBT Server
Could you please clean me on this?

Regards,
Yogesh
