Trying ti install Redhat 9.0 Disk one works great...until it ask for disk two....I put in disk two and get the messege "wrong disk". This is a boxed set from redhat....thanks for any help
Have you tested the disks to make sure they're OK?
Have you looked at the disks, in RH8, to see if they are any different inside?
... this reminds me of an issue I had with a packaged set - in my case disk 1 and 2 were mislabelled. You may have a similar problem. Since disk 1 was fine, you need may need to find the real disk 2 ... try the other disks in sequence. Never mind what's written on them, you can't believe everything you read. I believe the complete distro for RH9 comes on 6 disks?
This is a problem with Redhat's anaconda installer on various motherboards. Use another version of redhat or use another motherboard. Perhaps upgrading your motherboard BIOS may help.
I have checked the disk using "linux mediacheck" and have tried using all of the other disk when it asked for disk #2....the same problem when I tried to install on three other systems
a) you have the required disk 2 missing (despite the officialness of the supplier)
b) anaconda hates your motherboard... and the motherboards of all the systems you tried to install on.
c) The Red-hatted Goddess hates you
While you're out looking for ISO's you could just forget RH9 (Depreciated by Red Hat, taken over by Compaq - last I heard...) - If it's an official RH boxed set then it is so far out of date you'll be days (weeks?) updating everything - and (yes, I'm still in the same sentence!) go for another distro.
If you like Red Hat - then look out for Fedora (FC4 coming real soon!)
If you want lightweight, powerful, and very cool - Yoper (for i686 only)
