One is made by RedHat, and the other is made by re-compiling source from RedHat after doing a find/replace.

Hi,

Oracle Linux is optimized for use with Oracle products. It has a "clean" kernel called unbreakable with only the necessary...at least with what Oracle thinks is necessary.
They guarantee that their products will work optimally on Oracle Linux.
