Recent crackle.com video problems, ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit

I can't load a crackle.com video since the start of September. Chrome plays Netflix fine with the User Agent extension hack posted at PC World, but will not load a crackle.com movie. Chromium with pepperflash acts the same way with crackle.com (I don't expect chromium to play Netflix). Both Chrome and Chromium display a black screen with a loading twirly graphic that just twirls (the movie never loads) at crackle. I don't even bother with firefox, since the version of flash for firefox will remain too outdated.

Thanks in advance for suggestions
