raid partition resyncing

Hello

a quick question: what is a RAID 1 partition doing when it is resyncing? And can i write to that partition when it is resyncing?

I have another RAID 1 partition which is encrypted. So I make the RAID 1 partition, and then I use dm-crypt to the crypted partition on top of that. Can I mount the encrypted partition and write to it when it is stil resyncing?

The first partition is being duplicated on the second drive during a resync.

You can mount/read/write to the raid’s filesystem during a resync, but it will usually respond a little slower than usual.

But if you reboot before a software raid resync is finished, it will start over from the beginning after reboot. So it is a good idea to allow a resync to finish before you reboot.
