RAID Hardware

Folks,

We bought some hp proliant servers with hardware raid. Is there any special installation of Redhat linux required for it? If I create a mounted structure called /opt, what will be the file type?

Thanks

Lawrence

The /opt does not have a special filesystem like USB, proc, shm. You can use any filesystem for /opt, but the /opt is never used. Linux distributions includes the /opt just in case you use old programs that was design to be setup in /opt and to comply to some standards.
