Dell "CERC" Raid-5 w/CENT OS. Is this true hardware RAID or just an expensive card?
Planned config is a PowerEdge 1800 with the "Free CERC 6-ch RAID card" they are currently offering @ a claimed $350 value.
2 - 40GB disks in RAID 1 for OS
4 - 320GB disks in RAID 5 for /srv stuff
Is this a true hardware RAID or am I asking for trouble?
I did some digging this AM and everything points to it being a MegaRAID SATA 150-6 card so it should support 0, 1, 5, and some others. I'll post back when the box comes it to confirm this is the card.
