problems with kernel and x after update

i have Suse 9.1 personal. I just did the online updates and now x will not start. Before installing the updates, i installed this NVIDIA package: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6106-pkg1.run, for my Nvidia Geforce 5600 256mb. Now i get a fatal error each time i try to start the x server. I tried reinstalling the driver. but the install says that its not made for my kernel version. Do i have to wait for a new driver to come out, or is there something i can do to fix this?

It's likely the updates wiped out the nvidia installation. Always do nvidia last. Especially if there was a kernel upgrade in there.

There's a link on the main NVidia Linux driver page specifically for SuSE users. Maybe start there?

Oh I forgot to ask, what kernel version are you using now? Also, what exactly do you mean by "reinstalling the driver"?
