Post problem with Xwindows


hi,
i have this problem when i logged in to my system this morning and it was working properly yesterday.
the problem is : i couldn't login to graphical mode when i reboot the system but there was no problem in text mode so i thought i need to install xwindows again. I don't know how to install xwindows i tried mounting cdrom and from there copying the rpms all related to xwindows but of no use can any one help me how to fix this problem. i am running redhat linux 8.0 distro.
thanks for any help .

try startx. This is the command to start xwindows.

Anything serious mentioned in /var/log/XFree86.log ?

What is your video hardware? freezing problems with XFree86 can be related to the wrong driver being used... As suggested, post the contents of your /var/log/XFree86.0.log file, pay special attention to the lines beginning with (EE) or (WW), the rest is informative.
