I try to install mandrake 8.0 in a PII with 8GB hard
disk + 2GB on an other.

I have 2 hard disk :
- 1 with 2 partition (2 fat32 : windows 98 + windows 2000)
- 1 with 1 partition (1 fat32) : here i want to install linux mandrake...

During the instalation I create a linux part and a swap. After I format the partitions appears the a message:
"INVALID HDLIST, DESCRIPTION IN HDLISTS FILE"

after that I can't continue the install.

Thanks for your help...

when ure installing u got control over virtual consoles, try to switch with ALT-CTRL-F1 tru ALT-CTRL-F6(?).
theres various processes giving output to these consoles on progress and errors.
btw, does it say it saves the hdlists file somewhere?
guess uve got to look for clues there as well.
maybe its also good to tell how u partitioned the 2nd disk, dev names, the last changes u made n so etc.

I have exactly the same problem as tarlay, but my error message is a bit more "verbose":

Invalid hdlist description '' '' in hdlists file at /usr/bin/perl-install/pkgs.pm line 357.

I use the "auto allocate" partitioning with swap, root and home. I will do I strictly Linux installation. Using the virtual console I observed that the installation couln't use a ramdisk, and it takes quite a while to get to the graphical menu.

Anyone out there who can help us out ?
