Cool problem with file permissions

hai.........this is just my second question to the site...the answer to the first was so quick i was really surprised....keep up the good work guys...
i am in the process of installing a new cms...i have set the file permissions for the whole cms directory to 777 and chowned the whole directory to apache.apache...the directory is in /var/www/html and it is showing up all right on my browser...but it says that some files in the directory are still not writeable...i give ls -l to the directory and it returns that all permissions are ok...(777)...is it an apache problem???should i make some chenge in http-conf file or anywhere else???

it's always best to show the command that you did so we can see it, you might thing that you have changed the permissons but you've left out something

did you do this

chown apache:apache -R /var/www/html/
chmod a+rwx -R /var/www/html

? the -R stands for recursive meaing it will change all the permissions of the directories down from the first folder
