i use default movie player available for ubuntu 10.04. i have upgraded ubuntu to run almost all types of extension. But when i play any media file, after 1-2 min of song/movie, the player just hangs. and not just that also the whole system gets halted.
i generally mount windows partitions listen songs in linux as the space on linux is less. Can this be the probable reason for having this problem ?
Please tell how to solve this ?

Reason: typing errors
The easiest way to troubleshoot something like you're experiencing is to launch the mediaplayer from a terminal (not in the background). That way you can see what's going on. If any errors appear, post them here. The problem might be in your Windows partitions but that's no certainty at all. Did you try copying a couple of songs to a local directory and play them from there to exclude the problem being related to network/Windows partition?

Hi,
i copied the requisite file to Linux environment and used terminal program (mplayer) to hear music. Now the problem is resolved..
