Problem installing gcc


I get the following message

checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

I am trying to install gcc here and I dont understand why i get this message.

you have to install gcc from binary package to start with
it can't compile itself untill after it's compiled

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of gcc binaries for Fedora Core 3

but you should really consider getting apt going there so you don't have to deal with those darn rmp files and their dependancies
