Problem in cd recording, cannot open SCSI driver

Cd reading and recording used to work ok in my Mandrake 10.0 system. I once had cd mounting problem when trying to read a cd, which I circumvented by removing the cd supermount option in the /etc/fstab. I hadn't used the cd station for recording since that. Now when I tried to do it, it didn't work. I wonder can anybody help me to find out why, and how to make it work again.

This is what the cd burning programs tell about the problem (the outcome is the same whether I am a superuser or not):

First, the Nautilus CD Burning
$ nautilus-cd-burner

cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: Device or resource busy. Cannot open '/dev/cdroms/cdrom0'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
Error trying to open /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 exclusively (Device or resource busy)... retrying in 1 second.
Error trying to open /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 exclusively (Device or resource busy)... retrying in 1 second.
(Error message repeated 20 times)
Linux sg driver version: 3.5.27
Warning: Open by 'devname' is unintentional and not supported.
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
devname: '/dev/cdroms/cdrom0'
scsidev: '/dev/cdroms/cdrom0'
cdrecord: Future versions of cdrecord may have different drive dependent defaults.
cdrecord: Asuming -tao mode.
cdrecord: No write mode specified.

Second, the GnomeToaster 1.0Beta6, when trying to erase a RW CD
$ gtoaster

blanking CDRW.

cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg0'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
CDRW blanking complete.

(it didn't blank the cd in spite of the last line telling so)

Then some information from my system, outputs to some key commands :
