Problem connecting to X Server
If I log into KDE as "username" and I open a terminal and then type "kedit filename &", kedit opens great with the document loaded. Now, I want to open a root owned file so I "su -" and then do the same thing but I get errors like:
Xlib: connection to ":0:0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
kedit: cannot connect to X server :0:0
The middle line sometimes changes. The way I get past them is to copy the .XAuthority from the home of username to the home of the user that I switched to and this workes until I close the terminal and start another one or I reboot. How can I setup my environment so I can log in as a user, switch users and still connect to the X Server to open X related apps? Thanks, Jeremy
